The PrimaLoft company is a leader on the synthetic insulating market used, among others, for the production of clothing for cold and humid conditions. Insulation of this constructor is widely used and in a balanced way imitates the properties of natural warming (eg goose down) without having their biggest drawback – susceptibility to moisture.
PrimaLoft engineers, however, do not rest on their laurels and constantly improve their advanced material technologies. In the upcoming season, an innovative series – Cross Core will be launched on the market. This new product series combines the existing solutions from company’s portfolio with new technologies to further increase the efficiency of products. This time, the innovation will be achieved through the marriage of PrimaLoft with airgel technology, which has long been used in aerospace applications by NASA scientists.
Something for everyone
There are plans to introduce three new products:
- Gold Insulation PrimaLoft with Cross Core
- Gold Insulation PrimaLoft Hi-Loft Ultra with Cross Core
- Silver Insulation TrimaLoft ThermoPlume with Cross Core
Each solution differs slightly due to its properties and will be used to create products for athletes, travelers and rescuers depending on the specific thermal needs.
Gold Insulation PrimaLoft is the highest-class insulation on the market, providing heat, water resistance, softness and compressibility. This ultra-thin microfiber insulation is warm, soft and light, and also warmer wet or dry than all other insulations.
Silver insulation is an excellent insulation for excellent warmth, waterproofness, softness and compressibility. PrimaLoft® Silver Insulation Active keeps your body warm, dry and comfortable, even in extreme conditions. Unfortunately, the way it keeps the heat, when it is wet it is much weaker than in the case of gold insulation.
Technology from outerspace
The new technologies use the airgel silica developed by NASA, thanks to which they will provide up to 52% more heat with the same weight compared to the company’s existing solutions on the market. This allows PrimaLoft customers to achieve both better heat and lower weight. PrimaLoft gold insulation with Cross Core technology also contains 35% recycled materials (PCR).
Airgel silica is a highly porous, low-density structure that creates a temperature barrier that blocks cold and heat. The airgel consists of over 95% air and is the lightest solid material known to man and one of the most effective insulation materials. PrimaLoft engineers have found a unique way to integrate Airgel material into specific fibers, so that PrimaLoft can develop a clothing insulation that can withstand the extreme challenges of outerwear.
Opportunity for innovation is everywhere
We always try to cross the boundaries of materials science, and the PrimaLoft Cross Core series represents a significant advance in our technological capabilities – says Jochen Lagemann, senior vice president and managing director of the company for the region of Europe and Asia – With this revolutionary fusion of many PrimaLoft technologies, we’re able to create products with advanced levels of warmth, comfort and protection that are higher than ever before. We can boast of our customers’ enthusiastic response to the introduction of these technologies, which is proof of the market demand for innovative solutions.
Over 30 brands have already adopted new PrimaLoft technologies for their 2019/20 winter collection. These include: 4F, 8848, Adidas, Aigle, Bergans, Dainese, Dynafit, ESKA, Halti, Johaug, La Sportiva, Lundhags, Maloja, Martini, Montane, Mountain Hardware, Norröna, Peak Performance, Ping, POC, Quiksilver, Reusch, Roeckl, Stellar Equipment and Swix.
